The Bologna Sarcoma Study Group

The Bologna SARCOMA STUDY GROUP is a multidisciplinary group for the treatment and cure of Abdominal Sarcomas. Patients affected by a sarcoma of the locomotor system that would like to be treated in Bologna should contact the Rizzoli Institute.The group is composed of internists, oncologists, gastroenterologists, surgeons, radiologists, specialists in nuclear medicine, pathologists and molecular biologists. The physicians and healthcare professionals who make up the group have worked together for years and are experts in managing patients affected by Soft Tissue Sarcoma. The group offers the patient the possibility to use all the services necessary for diagnosis and treatment of his/her disease, such as the use of diagnostic exams among which are ecoendoscopy, CT, MRI, PET or molecular biology as well as the possibility to undergo surgery performed by surgeons expert in this pathology. There is also the possibility to use innovate medical treatment by taking part in international clinical trials. The patient is evaluated collectively by the group. Decisions made during the course of the meeting are then communicated to the patient who will be called for a visit at the Institute of “Hematology and Medical Oncology “L. e A. Seràgnoli. The diagnostic, therapeutic and follow-up program carried out by the group is periodically updated on the basis of the results of scientific literature and of national and international meetings.
